The Detailed Rules

YOU WILL BE FULLY RESPONSIBLE FOR HAVING READ AND UNDERSTOOD THESE RULES. They're really hard to miss. Ignorance is not an excuse. You agreed to most of the things laid out here when you first registered -- this is a convenient reminder.

We rely mainly on our community to help out, so along with our team of community moderators, we ask that you please report inappropriate posts and so forth so that they may be dealt with swiftly. You'll find a nifty little report button on each and every post. If that post breaks the rules, use that button! So, what are the rules, you might ask? Let's get started.

Adhere to these and we won't have to beat you to a pulp. We'd prefer to avoid that, since most of us like our orange juice pulp free.

  • Don't be rude -- play nice. This one is simple. Live by it, post by it.
  • Sandswept owns this website Our house, our rules. You will respect the Staff and Moderators. If you have any problems with a moderator's behavior or conduct, please contact an Administrator (Yellow Text User) via PM.
  • Post in the correct forum. Read the descriptions below each forum, decide where your post belongs, and post there.
  • Do not spam. This means don't fill the forum with nonsense or chatter that is not related to the topic at hand. This includes (but is not limited to) one-word posts, caps lock, "first" comments, "In before the lock!", "GTFO", "STFU", or any of their variants. We say again; Do not spam.
  • Do not flame or harass other users. No racial, sexual, religious, ethical or general abuse will be tolerated. Do not pester other users. Do not troll other users. Do not do anything to intentionally or underhandedly upset other users. You've been warned. Do not flame or harass other users.
  • Religious and political discussion is prohibited, due to these topics having a naturally confrontational nature.
  • Discussion of illegal substances or acts is prohibited. Period. This includes (but is not limited to) links to torrents, warez, or any other sites offering means of obtaining pirated and/or ill gotten media, as well as advertisements for any pay-to-use service or item. This also includes illegal drugs and other things of that nature. Sandswept.net is not for discussion, sharing, or condoning illegal activities. This will result in a permanent ban.
  • Discussion of, and links to, and avatars containing adult material is prohibited. Period. This will result in a permanent ban from the forums.
  • Currently you can upload your own avatar. Do not upload avatars that contain pictures that would be considered disgusting, rude, vile, harassment, or otherwise upsetting to other forum goers. If an avatar is deemed inappropriate by a moderator/admin, their word is law. It doesn't matter if you think it's a silly decision. Custom avatars are a privilege, not a right. Think about the consequences before uploading any sort of picture. This also encompasses avatars that are just plain obnoxious. Try to keep our eyes from bleeding.
  • Do not dodge the profanity filter. If a word is considered profane and/or blocked, it is for a reason. Don't change letters around or put spaces in words so they'll bypass it. We don't need to hear your potty-mouth.
  • Do not create multiple accounts. Use one account, and do not circumvent bans with a new account. If multiple accounts are found being used to circumvent bans (or break any rules), all of the offending accounts will receive a ban.
  • Do not impersonate a moderator, staff member, administrator or any other member. This has dire consequences.
  • Use common sense. Type legibly, don't be a moron and don't provoke anyone else to be a moron. If someone is being a moron, report the moron, and the moderator team will take it from there.

So, that's enough of the DON'Ts, here's a list of quick tips and helpful things to remember. Think of this as your notes-on-the-refrigerator. Only for the forums... Which are like a refrigerator. ... Because they're so cool! *ba-zing*
  • Do make jokes and have fun. Not like the joke above, that's just a bad joke. Try to avoid bad jokes or tasteless humor. Every one here is nice and friendly if you're nice and friendly. Our moderators/admins may seem like harsh executioners when it comes to rule-breakers, but if you follow these easy rules, you'll get along just great. In fact, you might even be rewarded for exceptionally good behavior.
  • Do play nice! If you're doing or saying something that was considered 'mean' in elementary school, chances are it's still mean. We've all been called some pretty nasty names by kindergartners. ... Haven't we? ... ... Any one?
  • Do make friends here. As a member of the Sandswept Legion, it is your privilege -- nay -- duty, to build the community, assist others, and be an all-around general friend to every one here. There's also a nice profile feature that allows you to add user's to your friends list so you can see who's online a bit easier, and so forth. Be friends!
  • Do give criticism, comments, and suggestions towards the community, Sandswept staff, and web team. That is, in a friendly manner. If you disagree with someone, disagree politely. Don't be a jerk. You'll find people are a lot nicer when you act nice to them.
  • Do think before posting. Are you about to post a question that's been answered countless times before? Are you about to post something you know you shouldn't? Don't feel like you're always tip-toeing around a room full of mousetraps (you're not.) but please try to be courteous and thoughtful before hitting that "Submit" button on your posts.
  • Do use the report button on posts that break the rules! The moderating team (Users with blue text and titles; "Forum Guardian" and "Master Forum Guardian") receive those post reports and will deal with the problem swiftly. Do NOT abuse the report button. That will backfire, likely ending with a warning, and eventually, a ban. It is considered harassment of other users. In this case, it's considered harassment of our hard-working moderator team.

    And last but not least;
  • Have fun! and enjoy Sandswept's games, community, and hors d'oeuvres. Or else.
